Metal icon Max Cavalera's long-running Soulfly project are ready to follow up their 2012 set Enslaved, and the band have announced they will be delivering their ninth studio LP through new label home Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
A press release confirms that the act have split from Roadrunner Records, whom Cavalera had worked with since the '80s, to work with the new division of Nuclear Blast. That said, the move reunites the guitarist/vocalist with former Roadrunner A&R chief Monte Conner, who had signed Sepultura all those years ago.
"It feels so right to be reunited with Max Cavalera," Conner said in a statement. "He is the second artist I signed and we've made 17 albums together over the years, including several metal classics. Max's voice remains just as unique and powerful as the day I met him and I felt the last Soulfly album Enslaved was his strongest work since the band's Gold-selling debut. I am honoured to call him a friend and to continue to be a part of his mission."
Cavalera, meanwhile, reports that Soulfly are set to hit a Seattle recording studio later this month with producer Terry Date (Pantera, Deftones, Soundgarden). Not too much info has been shed on the upcoming song cycle just yet, but a recent video update from Cavalera confirms that his son Zyon will be playing drums on the album. The as-yet-untitled LP will apparently feature 11 songs that Cavalera described as "killer, killer stuff."
