Sorry, Fall Out Boy & Missy Elliott: This Japanese 'Ghostbusters' Theme Totally Slays Yours

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jun 29, 2016

In case you haven't heard, you don't want to call Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott when you need a new Ghostbusters theme. As the Internet was quick to point out, their "Ghostbusters (I'm Not Afraid)" track for the upcoming film reboot is indeed a steaming pile of garbage. However, what's not nearly so horrible is a newly surfaced Japanese version of the classic ghost-hunting theme.

Featuring Japanese comedians Tomochika, Oniyakko Tsubaki, Naomi Watanabe and Shizuyo Yamasaki, the cover is awesome, to say the least. With choreographed proton pack dancing, official film footage and some weirdo Matrix-type baddies, it almost makes up for Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott's epic fail, packing in a whole lot of welcomed wackiness and — gasp — actual fun.

Oh, and if you couldn't tell by the actual film footage, the cover has also been officially released by Sony Pictures Japan, who we pray have the smarts to completely scrub Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott's contribution from the Japanese release.

Ghostbusters arrives in theatres on July 15, the same day as its North American soundtrack arrives via RCA Records.
