Sook-Yin's Afreakin' Fun

ART FESTIVAL

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jan 1, 2006

On a recent month-long excursion through Senegal and Gambia, former MuchMusic and CBC personality Sook-Yin Lee captured her travels on film and field recordings. Wanting to share her encounters, Lee has launched I Want To Go To Africa and Other Tales of High Adventure. Taking place from December 13 to 17 at XPACE in Toronto, Lee has organised this "explosive art happenin' that upturns cultural assumptions" in order to feed the curious. Featuring original works by various artists, the event's diverse line-up covers everything from dancing and experimental films and documentaries, to storytelling, fashion shows and musical sets by Gentleman Reg, No Dynamics and DJs A Man Called Warwick and Will Munroe, as well as Lee's own exhibition. Lee promises a "wing-ding-ethno-freak-fabulous" time. For info visit www.xpace.info.
