After announcing the they're getting back into action next year with the release of their film-turned-album Talent Night at the Ashram, California-based popsters Sonny and the Sunsets have announced they'll be taking those new tunes out on a West Coast tour in February.

They start up the mini-trip on the record's February 17 due date via Polyvinyl, playing Portland's Doug Fir Lounge later that evening. The four-show stretch features one Canadian appearance at Vancouver's Fox Cabaret on February 18, with the band then zooming back down for a closer in San Francisco.

You'll find all the date and venue info down below.

As previously reported, Talent Night at the Ashram had begun as a short film project, with leader Sonny Smith even casting actors for roles in the piece before changing his mind and figuring his story would work out best as an LP. Joining him and the Sunsets on the mostly home-recorded affair are the Fresh & Onlys' Shayde Sartin, King Tuff's Garret Goddard, Kelley Stoltz, Rusty Miller, Ian McBrayer.

In other news, the band have revealed plans to issue a band biography in the form of a comic book. The Freakishly Bizarre Yet Terribly True Tales of Sonny & The Sunsets is a 20-page comic book written by Smith and Ben Montero, with illustrations supplied by Montero.

As you can see up above, while the story may be true, the band appear to be presented as pop-rockin' anthropomorphic pups. The issue comes with an exclusive download for new track "He's Ranting, Let's Tranquilize," and also comes packaged with a flexi postcard. It lands in a limited run of 500 copies later this month and can be pre-ordered here through Polyvinyl.
