Sharing a bill with Cuff the Duke and the Sadies, the Sonny Best Band played comparatively straight-up ’70s truck-stop country and western with all the attendant clichés, which were rather endearing. Thankfully, there’s not an ounce of irony, not even when they do a po-faced twang redux of "Billie Jean.” With vocals split four ways, it’s not clear why Mr. Best gets the band named after him, especially when Lily Pearl often steals the show with her heartbreaking waltzes.
