While the province of Ontario gingerly navigates the coming stages of reopening during the ongoing pandemic, Toronto's Sonic Boom has released a carefully outlined schematic for its own reopening.
The long-running record retailer has announced that after two months operating fully online, the in-person Spadina Avenue location is again open to the public — with extremely cautious new measures in place.
Aside from requiring customers to wear a "face-covering" inside the store, Sonic Boom will only allow one customer per 10 square metres and listening stations will require the use of customer's personal headphones. The retailer will also not be accepting used records for resale until further notice.
Additionally, the basement remains closed. However, items stored on the lower level are still available for purchase by request.
"We are aware that we have to be mindful and cautious as we take these first steps forward," reads a release. "We have made some temporary changes, as the safety of our staff and customers remains our paramount concern."
The store will operate from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Sunday.
Immunocompromised customers and those uncomfortable with entering the store are invited to continue using their curbside pickup service, the Sullivan Street pickup window and contactless delivery via Sonic Boom's website.
