Songs: Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co.'s Jason Molina Seeking Financial Help for Medical Bills

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 20, 2011

Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. leader Jason Molina has been off the radar for a couple of years, and the last most people heard from the indie folk songwriter was when he cancelled touring plans back in 2009. Well, via an announcement from his label Secretly Canadian, we've got some good news and some bad news about what he's been up to since then.

The good news is that, while Molina has been in and out of various hospitals and rehab facilities in recent years, his friends "feel very encouraged by the recent steps Jason has taken on the road towards becoming healthy and productive once again." Understandably, "it has been a very trying time for Jason, his friends, and his family," but the songwriter is now on the mend and "working on a farm in West Virginia raising goats and chickens."

Here comes the bad news: because of his recent struggles, the uninsured Molina has accrued some hefty medical bills. If you wish to donate money towards his medical fund, you can do so by heading here to be directed to a PayPal account set up for Molina.

What's more, any letters of support can be mailed to the address below. According to Molina's label, he "is looking forward to making great music again."
