While the Tragically Hip stood in front of a fire on the cover of their 2009 LP We Are the Same, a fan who attended Burning Man claims to have seen late frontman Gord Downie among the flaming structures in the Nevada desert.

This past weekend, an image of Burning Man's Galaxia Temple going up in flames was shared to a Tragically Hip fan community on Facebook.

The image, taken by Paula Kim Derring, shows a figure among the flames that resembles Downie sporting the iconic hat from the band's final "Man Machine Poem" tour.

"I can't even believe this image from the man burn last night, just look at all the spirits in the flames!" Derring wrote. "I am in awe!"

As the Georgia Straight points out, Derring added that she had stapled a photo of Downie to the structure, recognizing the temple as a "sacred space for tributes and memorials."

In 2018 so far, the Tragically Hip have also shown up in a figure skating routine, the cannabis industry and on a T-shirt worn by Jeff Ament.
