So Lonely

A fat girl eats alone on a park bench. A reluctant hunter tries to ignore an unwanted, rotting carcass in his garage. A devoutly religious woman experiences her first crush. A son faces his dying mother and slow-witted brother. Each one of these lonely, hopeful and maybe lost souls finds a safe haven in Montreal cartoonist Joe Ollmann’s new graphic story collection This Will All End in Tears (Insomniac Press). Ollmann excels at capturing the unique, specific hurt and anger in a person’s eyes, and Tears effectively records the internal monologues of frustration, hope and desire we all share. The results are heartbreaking and lovely.
