Published Mar 01, 2013Rapper gone reggae artist Snoop Lion has been hinting at the arrival of his Reincarnated album for a while now, but has finally set an official due date of April 23 through VICE Music/RCA Records.
As previously reported, the set was executive produced by Major Lazer's Diplo. While a tracklisting has yet to arrive, the album apparently has guest appearances from the likes of Drake, T.I., Akon, Rita Ora and Chris Brown. Snoop Lion had previously teased the set with "Lighters Up," featuring Mavado and Popcaan, and "La La La." Snoop's daughter Cori B is also set to appear on the next single, "No Guns Allowed."
As can be expected, the LP has Snoop switching up his style, moving from his West Coast rap roots into the realm of reggae, which was apparently an enlightening experience for the performer.
"We were searching for true reggae music and the message of peace and hope it reflects," he said in a statement. "It's so much a part of who I am, and this record is all about paying homage and giving respect to those who created and love reggae music, and hopefully introducing it to a whole new audience. I feel truly honoured to make this album and respect to all who blazed the path for me."
Before the LP drops, Snoop's complementary documentary, also titled Reincarnated, will receive a limited release in theatres March 15.
