Snoop Dogg and David Beckham To "Save Lives" With Football - Both Kinds!

BY Dave SynyardPublished Jan 21, 2008

The dynamic duo of Snoop Dogg and David Beckham are looking to "save lives" in California's poverty and crime-stricken areas. Sounds easy enough for a laidback rapper-cum-reality TV star and a hunky but thick footballer/fashionista who have more money than they're wildest dreams could ever conceive. But instead of taking the obvious route and just buying the children some happiness, they plan to use sports such as "American" football and soccer to try and deter kids from violence and social ills. Sorry kids.

"We're going to be trying to save lives," announced Snoop, a championship coach for his son's junior football team. "We will be going in to do different things and I hope someone cares. I hope this proves I do other things than go to jail, smoke weed and go back to jail. With me, the media is usually most concerned with conflicts and altercations." Right you are, Snoop!

While the two have their hearts in the right places, one can't help but wonder if they could have chosen sports without the excessive violence of American football's breakneck tackling and soccer's inevitable hooliganism, which both seem ripe for underage brawling. Kite flying may have been better suited for this cause.
