The Smugglers

Vancouver's stylish sultans of sleazy garage rock are winding down their year-long tour supporting Rosie, their 2000 album and the finest of their career. The Smugglers are following it up with their first picture disc, a seven-inch single on an Italian label with three new songs. They just returned from another successful European tour, the lurid details of which will be posted soon on the "Tour Diarya" section of www.thesmugglers.com. This show will mark their first Vancouver appearance since Rosie's release, and front-man Grant Lawrence promises a "new look and new moves." Guitarist Nick Thomas is "doing a few new stunts that involve flips, but there are no wires involved." The new look is "fairly sleek and trim," involving "embroidered ass cheeks and embroidered ties, and white boots." Future plans include Western Canadian dates later this spring, and forming a Vancouver hockey team to compete in next year's Exclaim! Cup.
