Published Sep 21, 2010Way back in May, we revealed that Chicago garage pop upstarts Smith Westerns had signed with Fat Possum. The record deal made sense in light of the fact that their self-titled HoZac full-length was one of the most underrated albums of 2009. To prove its merit, Fat Possum reissued the LP in August. Now, the band are gearing up for a brief North American run before they finish off their second album.
The band will kick off the autumn run with a hometown show in support of Glasgow pop all-stars Belle & Sebastian. Then, on Halloween, they'll kick off a short tour with UK buzz band Florence and the Machine. That leg of the tour includes a single Canadian stop at Sound Academy in Toronto on November 3.
Fans can expect Smith Westerns to debut some new material on the road, as a press release says they're "currently wrapping up" their second album. The record doesn't have a title as of yet, but it is scheduled for release at the start of 2011.
