Published Nov 17, 2011Dreamy Chicago indie outfit Smith Westerns started the year off nicely with the release of their jangly, Exclaim!-approved sophomore set Dye It Blonde, but the band's victory lap was tainted when they were caught up in last summer's Pukkelpop tragedy, where stage collapses caused by a storm claimed the lives of four concertgoers. Looking to start 2012 off on a more positive note, the band have announced some tour dates.
Band member Cullen Omori tweeted the tour announcement, explaining that the band will brave winter's ice and snow come January to tout Dye It Blonde's tunes one last time before the group whip up some new material.
"Last tour until a new album is written. Pulling out all the stops 4 this 1," he posted.
The seven-show jaunt kicks off in Canada, with concerts taking place in Toronto and Montreal. You can check out the complete schedule below.
Joining the band on all dates will be London electronic musician Porcelain Raft, who, as previously reported, issued his debut album in January, and L.A. popsters Bleached.
