Smashing Pumpkins' New Bassist Not on Cover of Siamese Dream After All?

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 23, 2011

Last week, in an amazing case of happenstance, Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan tweeted that the group's current bassist Nicole Fiorentino was one of the two little girls featured on the iconic cover of their 1993 album Siamese Dream. If you thought the story was too good to be true, well, you might be onto something.

While last week's revelation claimed that the band's new four-stringer modelled for the album artwork, the layout's other little girl has reportedly refuted the news. TMZ reports that Ali Laenger, aka the girl on the right, says that there's no way that Fiorentino was on the cover of Siamese Dream.

According to Laenger, the ages do not match. As previously reported, Fiorentino would have been about 14 when the photo was taken. Both girls appear to be significantly younger and look to be about seven. Also, Laenger says that the photo was shot exclusively for the album, yet Fiorentino has claimed it was a candid pic.

At this point, it's unclear whether or not Corgan is having a little pre-April Fool's Day fun, or if he was taken for a ride by the bassist.
