Smashing Pumpkins may have returned in name, but let's face the facts here: Smashing Pumpkins have not returned in spirit. Zeitgeist isn't a let down because few should have expected much more than it is: Billy Corgan using a beloved, established name to re-launch a fizzled-out career with a half-assed album and a ridiculous marketing strategy that put six different versions of the "sixth" album into various stores. That said, check out Billy the Scrooge giving back on the band's official website. Realising the pointlessness in letting bootlegs switch hands for $$$, Corgan's webmaster has uploaded a number of full-length bootlegs to stream and download for free. Currently there are 21 to choose from, beginning as far back as a 1988 gig in Chicago at the Cabaret Metro; the most recent recording is from San Francisco's Fillmore in July. Free is free, so rejoice in the low quality goodness of hit and miss Pumpkins concerts!
