Smashing Pumpkins' D'Arcy Comes Out of Hiding, Sort Of

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jul 15, 2009

If you've been itching to know where Smashing Pumpkins' long-lost bassist D'Arcy Wretzky has been since leaving the band a decade ago, we have some answers. Apparently, she's been busy shovelling manure and taking care of four-legged beasts on a horse farm in Michigan. Seriously.

In an impromptu interview with Chicago radio station Q101, Wretzky recently gave the "Where are they now?" update, explaining she rarely gets out into the world these days and has basically cut off all ties with the music world and her old home of Chicago.

"Any musician is like, 'You can only push it down for so long,' but I don't know if I'll ever be able to [do it again]," Wretzky told host DJ Ryan Manno [via Spinner]. "Singing was my first love, but twice a year I get laryngitis and I lose my voice completely. I don't know why. But the stress, everything... the business is just nasty."

And while Wretzky was supposedly fired by old boss Billy Corgan, she only had one comment about the Great Bald One. "Billy has a really unusual voice," she said. "I just wish he'd pay more attention to his pitch." Ouch!
