Expect to meet a new member of the Smashing Pumpkins soon. After posting a public callout in search of a new guitarist at the beginning of the month, the ever-evolving pop group announced today that they've received more than 10,000 applications for the role and are in the process of reviewing the resumés.

"Currently, there are eight people working full-time to review each and every one," the band wrote in a social media post updating fans and applicants alike of their progress.

Since they're due to hit the road with Green Day this summer — including a Toronto show in August — it's safe to assume that the new guitarist will be introduced sooner than later in the coming months.

Former guitarist Jeff Schroeder, whose departure made way for the open position, has lauded his choice to join the band as "one of the best decisions I've made in my life." Considering some Exclaim! readers have pledged to apply, we've got our fingers crossed for your good fortune.
