Smashing Pumpkins Announce North American Reunion Tour (Without D'Arcy Wretzky)

"The Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour" includes stops in Montreal and Toronto

The so-called Smashing Pumpkins "reunion" has been making headlines for weeks, and we now finally have something solid — the band have announced a North American tour.

The band's countdown clock finally hit zero today with the announcement, revealing that OG Pumpkins Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlain will hit the road with frequent band collaborator Jeff Schroeder. Yes, this means former bassist D'Arcy Wretzky, who has been slamming Corgan repeatedly in recent weeks, is not participating.

The trek is called "The Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour" and includes Canadian shows in Montreal on August 7 and Toronto on August 8. In addition, there are a pile of U.S. dates.

As a press release explains, the tour lines up with the group's 30th anniversary of their initial formation, and it promises to highlight music from the Smashing Pumpkins very beginnings with material from Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore and Machina.

"Some 30 years ago, as the Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha and I began a musical journey in the cramped rear bedroom of my father's house," Corgan said in a statement. "And so it's magic to me that we're able to coalesce once more around the incredible Jimmy Chamberlin, to celebrate those songs we've made together."

He added "This show and staging will be unlike any we've ever done, and will feature a set unlike any we've ever played. For if this is a chance at a new beginning, we plan on ushering it in with a real bang."

The tour came with a promotional video, available below. It features adult versions of the Siamese Dream twins setting the classic Smashing Pumpkins logo on fire.

Tickets for the tour will be available on February 23. Find the full schedule below.
