Published Feb 22, 2013New York's Small Black have kept relatively quiet since the release of their 2011 mixtape, Moon Killer, but they're getting ready to return this spring with their sophomore album.
A newly unveiled minute-long trailer reveals that the album is called Limits of Desire, and it will be out on May 14 through Jagjaguwar. The clip also includes a brief snippet of music, which builds from swirling synth ambience to a slightly more percussive haze featuring what sound like noodling trumpets. The visuals, meanwhile, show hand-drawn portraits of the four band members gradually being filled in.
Small Black revealed on Twitter that this short teaser will be followed by a full announcement next week, so stay tuned for more details to emerge shortly. Their tweets suggest that this will be a proper album rather than an EP or other short release.
This will be the band's second official full-length. It follows the 2010 debut New Chain.
