Vancouver electronic musician Jonny Dylan Hughes already makes music under banners like JDH, Cool Man and Branches, and now he has released a new EP under yet another moniker. This time, he's going by the name Slow Start, and he just rolled out the seven-song collection You, Sword.
One of the tags on Bandcamp is "dude-brunch," but, to be honest, we've got no clue how that relates to the music. A far more appropriate tag is "space-disco," since that captures the futuristic dance vibe of these tracks. They're predominantly instrumental, although some melancholic vocals occasionally emerge low in the mix, making this a poignant collision of the robotic and the vulnerably human.
