Slow Leaves

'Beauty Is So Common' (album stream)

Winnipeg's Grant Davidson has been making music under the Slow Leaves moniker for a while now, but before his debut full-length Beauty Is So Common hits shelves, you can listen to it here at Exclaim.ca.

The record combines Davidson's knack for storytelling with his heartfelt vocals. There's an alt-country twang to what he does, with his music described as "deeply rooted in the genuine and honest, rich in melody and sung from the heart of downtown."

Impressed by the production on fellow Winnipeggers Imaginary Cities' debut record, Davidson got in touch with the duo's Rusty Matyas and Beauty Is So Common is the result of that collaboration.

A press release reads: "With Davidson's songwriting, rooted deep in folk and Americana, and Matyas' keen sense of pop harmony and arrangement, they stumbled on that subtle and elusive quality that anchors all great recordings: the capture of a special moment in time."

Those moments can now be heard on Beauty Is So Common, which arrives on September 6. Listen to the album in its entirety now, though, in the player below.
