Slow Learners Announce 'Grow On You' EP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 18, 2014

It's been a while since Vancouver's Slow Learners first revealed plans to follow up a string of 7-inches with a fuller, six-song EP. Two years on, the record is finally ready to be released as Grow on You.

The EP arrives on 12-inch vinyl July 15 through Debt Offensive Records. The sessions were tracked with producer Jesse Gander (White Lung, Japandroids) at the now shuttered Hive Studios in Burnaby, BC, with the recordings later mastered by Stu McKillop (Baptists) at Rain City Recorders.

Featuring tracks like "When I Was Fun" and "Worst at Home," the record is said to bring the "dark lyrical content" of guitarist/vocalist John Johnston together with "catchy power pop" melodies along the lines of the Lemonheads, the Replacements or Hüsker Dü. Previews from the set have yet to arrive, but you'll find the tracklisting details for Grow on You down below. That's the album cover above.

As previously reported, Slow Learners comprises Johnston, who also plays with Gander in Lesser Negatives, Ladyhawk/Baptists bassist Sean Hawryluk and drummer Penny Buckner (Twin Fangs).

Slow Learners will celebrate the release will a show at Vancouver's Astoria on July 11.
