Canadian rock icons Sloan are currently on tour supporting their new record 12, but Patrick Pentland will not be joining the band for some of the upcoming shows.

The multi-instrumentalist/vocalist revealed on Twitter that he would have to miss the rest of the gigs this month due to a family illness, insisting "family has to come first."

Pentland said that his bandmates are supportive of his decision and assured fans that "they will put on a great rock show for those of you fortunate to see them."

Pentland hasn't announced the precise date of his return to the stage, but did say he will rejoin his bandmates on tour "very soon" — presumably for the dates next month.
