With most of Canada ready to dig into a long weekend, it's a perfect time to sit back, relax and catch up on the music-related happenings that you may have missed. Lucky for you, we have our ever-trusty News Round-Up.

Leading the pack, we found out that Sloan bassist/Canadian rock hero Chris Murphy was stuck down by a drunk driver in a nasty hit and run incident. Don't worry, Chris is out of hospital, but he urges you to "kick a drunk driver in the face." Also, we had the Get Up Kids apologizing for helping to create emo, super-hot Toronto rapper Drake getting his own sitcom and Charles Manson reaching out to Phil Spector in prison, urging the infamous super-producer to perhaps create a little jailhouse rock.

Also, we strongly advise you check out our story on the federal government inviting all Canadians to have their say on copyright reform (seriously, folks, this stuff is important) and the Turkish government clamping down on and arresting some poor metalheads, just because they threw the horns.

Oh, and just in case you are as pumped about Beck's collaboration with Charlotte Gainsbourg as we are, click here to check that out, we have the scoop on the pair's album release details.
