While Sloan bassist Chris Murphy has been recovering from his broken collar bone as the result of a hit and run, the band have apparently been working on new material. In fact, it appears they'll be releasing the work in the form of an online-only EP.

In a recent interview with Blare Magazine, Sloan's Jay Ferguson explained that the group have been hard at work on several new songs. "We're recording an EP right now that we're gonna put out in the fall," he explained.

Ferguson goes on to say that the EP will be an online-only release due to the band's growing frustration with manufacturing CDs. "I don't want to manufacture CDs, it's pointless," Ferguson said. "I don't mind making vinyl and I don't mind putting music up online, but manufacturing and distributing CDs is just a headache to be honest. I know it still exists and you still have to sort of cater to it, but I kinda want to turn that off soon. This EP will be the first foray into that."

Since the interview was done, the band have been posting the odd recording update on their Twitter, but an official title and release date for the EP has not yet been revealed.
