Aussie post-rock quartet Sleepmakeswaves issued their sophomore set Love of Cartography Down Under earlier this year, but it will be washing into the rest of the world's ears on September 23 through Bird's Robe Records. Until then, the combo are mapping out their sound for the global market with a stream of the album's "Traced in Constellations."
A press release describes the LP, which was recorded with Nick DiDia (Karnivool, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine), as "their most epic, intricate and powerful record to date." It also adds that the 10-song set is threaded together with "a series of memorable and thundering sequences."
Thusly, "Traced in Constellations" rockets out the gates with a passage of distortion-dialling six-strings and battered drum work darting off into the cosmos. Though only for a second or two, there are sections that quickly and quietly put the shine on atmospheric keyboards.
