Calgary's MTT Fest may have cancelled its 2013 edition, but the Alberta city will still get a major music festival in the coming months with the Sled Island Music & Arts Festival. The seventh edition of the annual event runs from June 19 to 22, and the organizers have confirmed the first batch of confirmed acts.

The festival will feature over 250 performers, and the headliners so far are the Jesus and Mary Chain, Swans, Explosions in the Sky, Divine Fits, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Colin Stetson, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Mac DeMarco, and METZ. As previously reported, this year's edition of the festival is being curated by John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees and Canadian electronic hero Tim Hecker.

Shows will take place downtown at Olympic Plaza and at 30 other venues throughout Calgary. In addition to music, Sled Island includes visual art, film and comedy.

A Festival Discovery Pass costs $179 while a Festival Discovery Plus Pass (which offers front-of-the-line access, artist lounge privileges and more) is $299. Buy tickets here and read up on Sled Island's green initiative here.

Expect the full lineup to be confirmed in the coming months, and check back to SledIsland.com for updates.
