Slaughter Beach, Dog Announce New Album 'Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling,' North American Tour

They'll play the follow-up to 2020's 'At the Moonbase' live in Toronto and Vancouver

Slaughter Beach, Dog have announced their fifth studio album — previewed by new single "Float Away" — and a North American tour slated to begin this November.

Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling arrives September 22 on Lame-O. It follows 2020's At the Moonbase and 2019's Safe and Also No Fear, and includes recent single "Strange Weather."

At the beginning of the pandemic, frontman Jake Ewald (formerly of Modern Baseball) left his longtime home of Philadelphia to embark to the Poconos Mountains. Moving upstate also inspired him to dig into the catalogues of great folk singer-songwriters Neil Young, Randy Newman and Tom Waits and really boil songs down to their quintessence.

The band will take these new, twang-infused tunes on the road beginning November 1 in Bloomington, IN. Shortly thereafter, they'll perform at Toronto's Axis Club — with support from Bonny Doon — on November 3. While the majority of the Slaughter Beach, Dog tour dates will take place stateside, they will make a brief return to Canada early next year to play Vancouver's Rickshaw Theatre with Sun June on January 21, 2024.
