Slapshot

Digital Warfare

BY Rod OrchardPublished Sep 1, 2004

Old schoolers Slapshot take another kick at the can and deliver a decent album’s worth of hardcore. "Punks Dead, You’re Next!” deserves credit for the best song title from back in the day that rings so clear today. These guys were around in the very early days of punk/core and have developed a reputation that is well deserved. They serve up honest, in-your-face hardcore that pissed people off then and no doubt makes the makeup-wearing nerds today cry themselves to sleep. Digital Warfare takes aim at hardcore kids ("Stupid Fucking Kids”) and themselves ("Wasted Time”) and hardcore unity ("Had it with Unity”) but it’s all in good fun. This CD will have an appeal to older hardcore "kids” because of the good shots at the scene, themselves and the great cover of Minor Threat’s "Straight Edge.”
