Skratch Bastid, Paul E. Lopes Team Up for Kool Herc Benefit in Toronto

On Monday (January 31), we reported that legendary hip-hop pioneer Kool Herc is currently in need of surgery for an undisclosed but serious illness. The news was accompanied by a cry for fans' help, as the 55-year-old DJ (born Clive Campbell) lacks health insurance. The call has been met worldwide, and now a Canadian contingent will lend a hand with a Toronto benefit later this month.

The show has been given the suitable title Herculoids Unite! and will take place on February 10 at Toronto's Wrongbar. The concert will feature appearances by DJs Skratch Bastid, Paul E. Lopes, Starting from Scratch, Son of S.O.U.L, Kaewonder, Musiklee Inzane and L'oqenz, along with hosts Arcee and Fatski. In true Herc spirit, the DJs will be spinning vinyl exclusively.

Herculoids Unite! will cost $10 at the door. No advance tickets will be available. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Kool Herc.
