Skeletal Spectre Voodoo Dawn

Skeletal Spectre Voodoo Dawn

Since their formation in 2008, Skeletal Spectre have been consistent with their death metal. Their particular blend is comprised of authentic Swedish death and good old-fashioned doom. Voodoo Dawn proves that you can never down tune your guitars enough and there's no such thing as "too much distortion" — the guitars are thoroughly soaked in the stuff. While this isn't anything particularly new to extreme metal, the vocals of Vanessa Nocera are a point of interest. While female vocalists continue to appear in the metal world, the more extreme genres tend to have a skewed ratio favouring men. That said, Vanessa howls like a banshee, growls like a demon and does a brilliant job projecting her dynamic voice alongside the hellish sounds of her anonymous bandmates. While Voodoo Dawn may not be anything new to the ears, it's defiantly a step in the right direction for Skeletal Spectre. (Pulverised)
