Sixty Stories

Anthem Red

BY Jasamine White-GluzPublished Dec 1, 2002

With the opening track, "Countdown,” inviting listeners in with its delicate music box intro, one can’t help but be entranced by Sixty Stories and their ability to write damn catchy songs. Winnipeg babies Sixty Stories consists of two girls, a guy and a computer, which seems just right on the Moog-infected Anthem Red. Punk-ish, with a little flair added by vocalist Jo Snyder’s smooth alto-voice, this record is a steady disc of elementary school rants and melodic choruses. Produced by none other than Ian Blurton, Anthem Red is a beautiful Elvis Costello-meets-the Donnas surprise.
