Six Organs of Admittance/Magik Markers Offshoot 200 Years Announce Debut Album
Fans of psych folk outfit Six Organs of Admittance likely cocked their heads in intrigue when leader Ben Chasny announced last year that he would be getting together with Magik Markers member Elisa Ambrogio to form the new entity, 200 Years. We still don't quite know how the band sound, but we're about to find out via their upcoming self-titled debut on Drag City.

A rather cryptic press release confirms that the platter arrives November 8, but details are spotty at best. No song samples have been released yet, nor has a tracklisting, but the label describes the duo's vibe as "basically Ben and Elisa with guitars, Elisa's voice, Ben's guitar alone, the breath of a harmonium, the faintest strains of piano." Sounds fairly minimalist, furthering the label's assertion that the debut is "a force of absolute cohesion and power," but "quiet-like, though!"

In addition to their self-titled starting point, 200 Years also have a limited-edition LP of "late night blues jams" in the works with the Grapefruit imprint, though a release date is still in the works.
