After being accused of having sexual relationships with two women who were underage, Ministry guitarist Sin Quirin has officially left the band.
Quirin's departure was confirmed by Billboard late Monday (May 17) after the guitar player posted a now-deleted statement on Friday (May 14) saying he was exiting Ministry. However, Quirin reportedly did not address the allegations of sexual misconduct, stating only that he was quitting the group to focus on his health and other projects.
His departure comes more than a year after he was accused by two women of engaging in sexual relationships with them when they were 15 and 16 years old, respectively. Both alleged incidents reportedly happened more than 15 years ago, though the claims only first surfaced last May.
When the allegations were initially published last year, Quirin denied the allegations through a statement from his lawyer.
"Mr. Quirin denies ever have [sic] any sexual relationship with anyone under the age of majority," his lawyer Randolph Ortega wrote at the time, adding that Ministry's Al Jourgensen was "unaware of any of potential nefarious activity by any member of Ministry during their respective tenure(s) with the band including but not limited to Mr. Sin Quirin."
The news of Quirin's departure from Ministry comes as the band get set to head out on tour this fall.
