The Silver Lake Chorus

"From the Snow Tipped Hills" (written by Bon Iver's Justin Vernon)

The Silver Lake Chorus are a 25-singer choral group from California with some pretty popular friends. In the past, the group helped out the Lonely Island and Akon on their "I Just Had Sex," and now they're prepping a debut disc full of songs written exclusively for the troupe by Beck, Of Montreal, Zooey Deschanel, Tegan and Sara, and more. Up first, however, will be the two-song Wreckage EP, with songs penned by Bon Iver leader Justin Vernon and New Pornographer A.C. Newman. You can hear Vernon's contribution, "From the Snow Tipped Hills" down below.

As you'd expect, considering their massive membership, the track is full of boisterous vocal arrangements. Despite the indie rock connection, the nature of the a cappella tune makes for something you're more likely to hear while sitting in a church pew, not while crowdsurfing at Coachella. That said, sopranos, baritones, tenors and the like cascade together quite nicely on the track.

The Silver Lake Chorus self-release Wreckage on September 18.
