Sigur Rós' Jónsi Scoring New TV Show 'Manhattan'

When not playing in Sigur Rós, frontman Jónsi has been building up a resume of film scores, writing music for director Cameron Crowe and collaborating with his partner Alex Somers. Now, Jónsi & Alex have announced that they are working on another soundtrack, this time for television.

The pair are scoring WGN America's upcoming series Manhattan, which is about the race to build the atomic bomb in the 1940s. It's currently in production in New Mexico, with the premiere slated for July.

The show is created and written by Sam Shaw (Masters of Sex) and directed by Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing, So I Married an Axe Murderer). It stars John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams and Daniel Stern, and presumably gets its name from the Manhattan Project (which led to the development of the atomic bomb).

There are no details regarding the music, but with the show airing in just a few months, we're bound to hear from Jónsi & Alex soon.

Thanks to Billboard for the tip.
