Following film score projects and vinyl reissues, Icelandic dreamweavers Sigur Rós have announced a North American tour that will take place this fall.
Billed as "An Evening with Sigur Rós," the month-long run is billed as "the band's most intimate tour in a decade," with the majority of dates scheduled as theatre shows. Foregoing a supporting act on every date except for September 24 at the Hollywood Bowl, the band will deliver two sets and an intermission on each date starting at 8:30 p.m. sharp.
Two Canadian dates have been included on the tour, with the band kicking off their trek in Vancouver on September 19 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre before popping up in Toronto on October 3 for an evening at Massey Hall.
A press release also reveals that the band will be road-testing new material, the first time they have done so since 2002, along with reinterpreting older songs that aren't setlist staples.
"This time, in addition to playing songs you know, we wanted to remember the seat-of-your-pants feeling experienced in the wake of ágætis byrjun, when for two years we formed and re-formed the songs that would go on to be the ( ) album live in front of people, night after night," the band said in a statement. "All we can say right now is it's going to be different, with new unreleased songs, a new show and maybe some other *new* things. Beyond that, we can only ask you to trust us on this one."
Tickets for all shows go on sale April 8 and can be purchased here, with the exception of September's date at the Hollywood Bowl which can be purchased here.
