A Sight for Sewn Eyes 'A Sight for Sewn Eyes' (album stream)
Haligonian metal troupe A Sight for Sewn Eyes are finally ready to follow up their 2012 debut Alone Together with a self-titled sophomore effort. And while it doesn't officially arrive until next week, Exclaim! is giving you an advanced listen to the new album in its entirety.

Borrowing from an array of styles that range from the lightning speed of New York hardcore to early metalcore in the vein of Norma Jean and Beloved to melodic post-rock, the band have carved out their own unique sound. Delivering "a flurry of ferocious riffing, maniacal time shifts and merciless, in-your-face vocals," the new record instantly demands the listener's attention and keeps hold of it across the nine new songs.

It was recorded last summer in Brampton, ON, with Greg Dawson at BWC studios. Next, the album was sent to Matt Bayles for mixing, then finally mastered by Harry Hess at Vespa Studios.

We previously premiered album cut "Colourless," which now fits in to a bigger musical picture that includes tunes like the absolutely pummelling opener "Poor Souls" and the aggressive-turned-experimental "Imperfectionist," before closing out on "Cut the Loss."

Despite welcome moments of more melodic musings, A Sight for Sewn Eyes is a heavy-hitting record from start to finish. It's due out on July 17 via Distort Entertainment/Fontana North, but you can give it an early spin in the player below right now. You can also pre-order the album here
