Shout Out Out Out Out

Reintegration Time

BY Daniel SylvesterPublished Feb 22, 2009

Edmonton, AB Juno award nominated infinity-piece Shout Out Out Out Out return for another collection of Italian-inspired electro with their suspiciously titled Reintegration Time. Album opener "Run" fortunately/unfortunately picks up where 2006's Just Saying/Not Saying leaves off, clashing and crashing brooding beats with vivacious synth drops, all while copping OMD's hit "If You Leave." As Shout Out Out Out Out's vocoderist, Nik 7 continues to deliver incognito, nursery rhyme-inspired lyrics; his melodies have become much pluckier, slickly displayed on tracks like "Guilt Trips Sink Ships" and "Bad Choices." "Coming Home" shows fellow Edmontonian Cadence Weapon at his most rubbery and "One Plus Two Plus Three" benefits from San Serac's Hi-NRG, threatening to squash all one trick pony accusations. Those familiar with Shout Out Out Out Out know they don't strive to be as conceptual as their peers but Reintegration Time shows Shout Out Out Out Out as a band too concerned with the sum to sweat the parts.
