Organizers behind SappyFest managed to crowdsource enough cash to publish SappyForever, a coffee table book chronicling the Sackville, NB summer festival from its roots up to now. Appropriately enough, familiar fest faces like Julie Doiron and Shotgun Jimmie will be promoting the hardcover tome and their songs on an upcoming tour, which will excitingly also feature a reunion from the much-missed Shotgun & Jaybird.
A seven-date book tour takes place in May, with a number of affiliated artists either performing or reading at venues between the Maritimes and Ontario. While Shotgun Jimmie will be playing a few solo sets, he'll also be re-teaming with Frederick Squire as Shotgun & Jaybird, marking the outfit's first show together in ages.

The specs on SappyForever have changed since the project was announced last summer, with the publication bumped up from 160 pages to 252. Included in the pages within are photos, essays, memories and more stemming around the first eight years of SappyFest. The project had been launched last summer via Indiegogo to help SappyFest out of a financial jam after the 2013 instalment left organizers $15,000 in the hole.
In other SappyFest news, organizers have announced that reunited rockers Constantines are the first act to be attached to this year's festivities. The ninth annual SappyFest takes place August 1 to 3, and early bird passes are already on sale for $65 over here.
