Short Story

I Kissed You Goodnight You Kissed Me Goodbye

Emo kids just shouldn’t fall in love. Don’t they know it only ends in tragedy? Short Story haven’t learned this lesson, and spend 11 songs venting their frustrations into the musical mould forged by artists like Thursday and Alkaline Trio, albeit with more screaming. Their songs are fast and furious, pounding home their messages of love lost with double-time drumming and big rock guitar licks. Falling short of the originality of their idols, but still capturing a certain intensity of emotion, songs like the acoustic "Daffodils and Dandelions” succeed by differing from the expected format, while "Power Stations” offers what is probably the best, most contained burst of energy on the album in it’s punishing two minutes.
