Shopkeeper Announce 'Terror Blessed' LP and Canadian Tour, Share New Single

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 29, 2014

No one in the band is new to making music, but Guelph, ON folk outfit Shopkeeper are set to release their debut album under the collaborative moniker.

Shopkeeper brings together seasoned musicians Scott Haynes (Bill Killionaire, Dutch Toko), Steph Yates (Esther Grey, ex-Hinidar) and Alanna Gurr (Alanna Gurr and the Greatest State), and the three-piece will deliver Terror Blessed on November 18 via Label Fantastic!/Little Room Labs.

Despite tackling themes of "love, loss, and longing," the songs on the new album "are brought to light not with dreary seriousness to reinforce the gravity of the material, but with a triumphant spirit," according to a recent press release. The overwhelming sense of helplessness gives way to "exuberance and epiphanies" throughout the record.

In support of the new LP, Shopkeeper will be touring across Canada with fellow Guelph musician Jenny Mitchell's act Bird City. Mitchell is known for her work with the Barmitzvah Brothers and sometimes plays under the name Jenny Omnichord.

The tour will see all four musicians collaborating on stage, as well as solo performances and "other interesting line-ups showcasing all of their talents separately and as a whole." The Eastern Canada jaunt kicks off in Toronto on November 8 and winds back around to the band's hometown on November 23.
