Published Jul 15, 2015Nick Harte's lo-fi pop project Shocking Pinks announced plans to reissue his 2004 debut Dance the Dance Electric back in 2011 as part of New Zealand label Flying Nun's 30th anniversary celebrations. Well, the New Zealand label might be approaching its mid-thirties now, but the vinyl release finally has a confirmed street date and new label home.
Dance the Dance Electric will be available globally on October 5 and will arrive through A Low Hum in North America.
It will be the first time the album has been available on vinyl, while the digital version of the newly remastered release will feature nine previously unreleased tracks from the original sessions.
Dance the Dance Electric was initially released on Pinacolada Records before Harte moved on to Flying Nun and later DFA. Most recently, he released the 2014 trilogy Guilt Mirrors via Stars & Letters — a hiatus-breaking album that was inspired by the devastating earthquake in his hometown of Christchurch, NZ.
In conjunction with the re-release, Harte will embark on a lengthy world tour. There are currently no scheduled Canadian stops, but you can see the full list of upcoming shows here.
