Shirley Manson Confirms Garbage Reunion

We had given up on the idea of Garbage recording a new album right around the time that frontwoman Shirley Manson joined the cast of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. But earlier this year, the singer began hinting at the possibility of a reunion, writing a Facebook note saying that she had spent a week in the studio with her bandmates Duke Erikson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig. Now, Manson has confirmed that Garbage have a new album on the way.

"I'm working on a record right now with the band. We've recorded quite a lot, but it's difficult to quantify," she told the Herald Scotland [via Canoe]. "It's the first one in a long time. I took about five years off. I'd like to do some touring next year."

Manson said that nothing is set in stone, and that she couldn't comment on what it sounded like or when it would be released. She admitted, "We're just winging it right now."

Still, even without any concrete details, Garbage fans can take this as assurance that a new album is finally on the way. Once it arrives, it will be the first new LP since 2005's Bleed Like Me.
