Philly rockers Sheer Mag bottled the lightning of their early singles when they released their debut full-length Need to Feel Your Love in 2017. Now, the band are back with a follow-up.

The album is titled A Distant Call and features 10 new tracks from the group. This time around, they've almost arrived at a concept album.

"We've been waiting to write these songs since we started the band and we were able to take these experiences and build a story out of them," frontwoman Tina Halladay said in a press release.

The album's songs follow a story arc related to Halladay's real life, when she was laid off from a job and dealt with the death of her father.

"We're talking about how late capitalism alienates and commodifies whatever is in its path without using the term 'late capitalism,'" guitarist and co-writer Matt Palmer added.

A Distant Call will arrive on August 23 via the band's own label Wilsuns RC. Before then, you can watch the lyric video for "Blood from a Stone" below.
