She-Devils "Where There's No One" (video)
Montreal duo She-Devils are hitting stages North America-wide this month in support of their new self-titled EP, and are giving fans a glimpse of what that may look like with the spotlight- and curtain-heavy video treatment for the record's soulful "Where There's No One."

Co-directed by tourmate Devon Welsh from Majical Cloudz and the band themselves, the clip finds the band delivering their sample-sourced piece to an unseen audience, with the centre stage-set Audrey Ann bathed in artificial light as she offers up her isolationist refrain: "I want to go where there's no one." Also sharing screen time on the otherwise darkened stage are the band's trusty, vinyl-spinnin' turntable and, quite briefly, bandmate Kyle Jukka.

In a statement, here's how Ann explained the track:

The song is about the vulnerability of showing your weaknesses to someone you care about and feeling rejected because it isn't received with compassion. It was cathartic to take this sense of my own repulsiveness and transform it into something beautiful. To me of course beauty and ugliness are intertwined when it comes to emotions. I tried to say a lot without using many words as to not make it overbearing and to leave it open to interpretation.
