Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings are continuing to Give the People What They Want, and today that means rolling out a new song called "Little Boys with Shiny Toys."
The song is classic Jones, in that it sports a buoyant old-soul bounce that's carried by uplifting horns, choppy funk guitar and the singer's big-voiced belting. Have undergone surgery for cancer in 2013, she sounds in very strong form here. Jones sings "shame on the boy with the shiny toys," which might get some listeners feeling a little self-conscious about the Christmas presents they received a couple of weeks ago.
