Sharks Keep Moving

Pause and Clause

BY Rob R. RaoPublished Apr 1, 2002

From post-grunge Seattle, Sharks Keep Moving has a mellow, rambling, bluesy style, delivering mainly, or entirely, instrumental tracks that have a loose feel to them that nevertheless also comes across as a bit more structured than the usual living room/rehearsal space jams. The drums are the standout instrument on the three tracks here, with the occasional solo flourishes tastefully restrained, especially on "Like A River,” the 11-minute main, middle track. While these guys could be good, it's hard to tell based on these 22 minutes; their pacing and style is much more laid-back, and although this comes across well on this EP, I'm left with the feeling I didn't really hear anything memorable. Good background music for those sleepy Sunday afternoons when you're wandering around cleaning up your room, though.
