Shark Speed

You know the parts in Minus the Bear songs where they open everything up and the song sounds big and important and makes you think about mountains and swimming in the ocean and life and your dad? Shark Speed's songs are like all those moments strung together, making Sea Sick Music an expansive full-length venture for this Utah foursome. It's not perfect - sometimes things sound an awful lot like Minus the Bear, like a lot - but when it hits it hits on some great ideas, and the band have the chops and inventive songwriting to take those ideas and build great songs around them (for proof, check out "Battle Born"). Sea Sick Music is a promising full-length debut and hopefully, as the band flesh out their sound, they'll continue making music as epic, open and mountain-thought-inducing.
